It was a successful week for the Erie Shores Health Foundation last week when they were able to raise over $100,000 in only five days. On Wednesday June 7th over 160 golfers descended upon Kingsville Golf and Country Club for the 23rd annual Golf Tournament in support of Erie Shores HealthCare (formerly Leamington District Memorial Hospital). Through registrations, sponsorships, and silent auction the event raised $60,000 in profits to be put towards future expansion and medical equipment at ESHC.
Quickly followed up on Sunday June 11th, ESHF hosted the first ever ES Hospice LifeWalk at the Leamington Secondary School track, which saw 110 walkers raise almost $20,000 for Erie Shores Hospice campus. This was the first time this event has been offered in a county location, giving walkers a choice to walk in Windsor or Leamington.
In addition on Thursday June 8th and Friday June 9th there were two 3rd party events –including Sunset Yoga and the DiMenna Excavating 50th Dinner- which raised $360 and $21,000 respectively for Erie Shores Hospice.
“It was a busy 5 days,” says Ross Barnwell, Executive Director, “but an incredibly rewarding one as well. South Essex County never ceases to amaze me in their support of healthcare. Truly humbling!”
The Erie Shores Foundation (formerly known as Leamington District Memorial Foundation) exists to raise funds for Erie Shores HealthCare and Erie Shores Hospice campus. Donations are used to purchase the latest technology and equipment for the local hospital as well as help to ensure that hospice programs & services can be offered no cost to the residents and their families.
The LDMH Foundation is please to announce that they will be changing their name to Erie Shores Health Foundation as of June 1st 2017. The LDMH Foundation was incorporated in 1992 and was created to raise funds for Leamington Hospital to pay for capital projects, new equipment, room renovations and more.
In April 2016 with the opening of the Erie Shores Hospice Campus, the LDMH Foundation has also taken on the responsibility of fundraising to cover operational costs for the campus. Through community donations the residents of Essex County are able to access services at Erie Shores Hospice at no charge.
As a result to better reflect the work that the Foundation fundraises for, it was agreed a new name should be implemented:
Chair of the Foundation, Sheila McBrayne, is very excited about the change and says: “The Foundation has gone through major changes in the past 4 years and although raising funds for the local hospital is still very important, that isn’t the only cause that we fundraise for. The new name better represents our fundraising efforts and I believe will go a long way to relieving any confusion the public may have related to our endeavor.”
The Foundation’s Board of Directors has approved a name change to Erie Shores Health Foundation. The Foundation plans to launch its new name in June 1st 2017, pending the receipt of the requisite regulatory approvals.
